CADET/JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
AIM OF THE PROGRAMME:
-
To attract, recruit and develop junior players and thus build the foundation for the future Junior Development Program of Cromer Golf Club. To strengthen the junior membership base at Cromer Golf Club.
-
To encourage young persons to take up and actively participate in the game of golf.
-
To provide instruction on golf, dress and etiquette, rules of golf, course-craft and how to maximize enjoyment of the game.
-
To develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of the game with the aim of attaining representative team participation.
-
To provide an environment that encourages participation through enjoyment, fun and social activities.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU:
It is expected that you will -
- Participate in the organized activities of the program.
- Confirm your non-attendance at each activity by telephoning the Pro Shop on 9971 2263 to advise you are unable to attend and record your apologies. This is necessary so we may ensure adequate tee times are set aside. Attendance records will be maintained at all activities.
- Maintain an acceptable level of dress and behaviour at all times.
- Obtain a Club Handicap as soon as possible.
- Support other Cadets/Juniors in the program to gain the maximum benefit from the program.
- Spend time practicing and playing in addition to the programmed activities.
- Participate in at least half of the Junior Development activities to be considered for Cadet/Junior Membership.
The program will not teach the Temporary Cadets/Juniors how to play each shot in golf. With the assistance of the Club Professional, Junior Development Committee and members, the Junior Development Program is designed to enhance golfing skills and knowledge of the game. All Temporary Cadets/Juniors are advised to take lessons in addition to the clinics offered in the program.
HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?
The program will commence in March with an intake of Temporary Cadets/Juniors. Temporary Cadets must be at least 11 years of age at commencement of the program and Temporary Juniors between the age of 15 and 18 years. There will be a limit on the number of Temporary Cadets/Juniors admitted to the program and where possible a balance of numbers between boys and girls will be maintained.
Temporary Cadet/Juniors will be offered playing rights to the course for a period of 12 months. This does not include Cadet or Junior Membership to Cromer Golf Club but is identified as a playing right to the course during this period.
Cadets will attend a clinic one week and play each alternate week. Tuition will be from the Club Professional or a member of his staff (Golf), or members of the Junior Development Committee (Etiquette, Dress, Rules).
Clinics will fall into three categories:
Golf:
- Full swing/full shot
- Tee shots
- Putting
- Chipping
- Pitching/wedges
- Bunker Play
- From 60 metres in
- Course Management
Etiquette:
- Etiquette, dress, procedures
- Rules
- Course courtesy
- Care of the golf course
- Type of games and card marking
It should be the goal of all Temporary Cadet/Juniors to obtain membership of Cromer Golf Club. The Junior Development Committee expects all Temporary Cadet/Juniors to be responsible for their commitment to the program. We do not expect to remind Temporary Cadet/Juniors of the program or their need to attend.
Participation in the program does not guarantee an offer of Cadet or Junior Membership on completion of the one year program.
HOW MUCH WILL THE PROGRAMME COST?
In the first year there will be an annual playing fee of $200.00 (includes GST) which includes the Saturday clinics.
An invoice will be sent upon acceptance into the program and the fee must be paid prior to commencing the program. This fee is not an annual subscription or entry fee into Cromer Golf Club.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
All participants are expected to provide: Golf Clubs, regulation golf shoes with soft spikes, golf buggy with wide wheels (if required). Participants must meet the prescribed dress regulations.
HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE EVALUATED?
After the first four months participants will be graded on their progress in the program; a member of the Junior Development Committee will meet with you to discuss your progress and make any suggestions.
Grade 1: Attain AGU, WGA or Club Handicap, competent to play without supervision, satisfactory participation and behaviour in program.
Grade 2: Showing promise and interest but has not yet reached a suitable playing standard.
Grade 3: Not attended regularly. Will be encouraged to do better.
Grade 4: Not turned up for at least 50% of sessions. Usually it is recommended that the participant withdraw. Unless a commitment is given then the participant will be withdrawn from the program without refund of fees.
Once a Temporary Cadet/Junior has reached Grade 1 status, he/she may be invited to join the Club as a Junior as positions become available.
WHEN CAN I PLAY?
- During the School Holidays competitions will be either 9 or 18 hole events (other Club commitments are to be considered)
- Saturday Clinics: 2:30 pm
- Social play with a member or sponsor
- Temporary Cadet/Junior Girls on Ladies Day as permitted by the Ladies Committee.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND TO PLAY WITH ME? No, you are not able to invite a friend unless your friend(s) are members of Cromer Golf Club or in the Junior Development Program.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I FINISH THE ONE YEAR PROGRAMME? An offer of Cadet/Junior Membership to Cromer Golf Club will be dependent upon your participation in, and commitment to, the Junior Development Program; ability to play at an acceptable level as well as satisfactory knowledge and adherence to the Club rules and standards.
The male candidates must achieve a handicap of 27 and females must have achieved a satisfactory playing standard.
The Junior Development Committee may recommend a suitable candidate for membership at any time during the program.
The Membership Committee handles membership applications. Applicants must be proposed, seconded and refereed in the normal manner. Nominations will be accompanied by the Junior Development Committee Progress Report. Entrance Fees and annual subscriptions apply on a scale depending on age and will be made available at time of application.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MAKE THE GRADE BY YEAR END? Should a promising candidate not meet the handicap test by the end of the first year but meets the attendance, participation and dress/behaviour standards, he/she may be invited to remain in the Temporary Cadet/Junior Program to enable him to have his handicap come to an acceptable level. A fee will be payable for the enrolment in new Program.
